Medical science has transformed survival rates for premature babies, yet every successful outcome conveys another story that statistics rarely capture. What happens when one of those children grows up knowing that modern medicine gave her the chance to breathe?
For Zoe Kennedy, that question has formed every chapter of her life.
Her journey with child development and medical resilience began the moment she entered the world. Born prematurely at Glasgow’s Rottenrow Maternity Hospital in 1990, she became one of the first babies in Britain to receive a groundbreaking surfactant treatment that helped her lungs breathe. The medical breakthrough earned a place in The Herald newspaper, though its greatest impact could never be measured in headlines.
Living through that remarkable beginning sparked a deeply personal fascination with human biology, psychology, and holistic health. From her earliest years, Zoe held a simple belief that life is a beautiful gift and that providing vulnerable children with the right support at the right moment can completely alter their future.
That belief soon found purpose. At 14, while still a young person herself, she stepped into youth work and community development. Growing alongside the young people she supported gave her a rare understanding of compassion, tenacity, and the importance of meeting children where they are.
Today, Zoe remains the same fiercely optimistic and nurturing leader formed by those first moments of life, committed to helping every individual receive the care, encouragement, and opportunities they need to breathe, grow, and thrive.

Careers rarely follow a straight line. Skills gathered from different industries often seem unrelated until they serve a larger purpose. Looking back, Zoe sees each chapter of her professional life as preparation rather than a detour, with every role adding another layer to the way she understands people, education, and wellbeing.
Every stepping stone in her career has become “a critical piece of a much larger, beautiful puzzle.” Her early background in dental nursing and healthcare gave her a disciplined understanding of clinical environments, patient care, and human biology. Moving into education, youth work, and child development allowed her to combine that scientific foundation with psychological understanding and creative approaches to health and wellbeing.
The introduction of technology shifted her perspective even further. She discovered its ability to scale ideas and make meaningful support accessible to far more people. What once appeared to be separate disciplines gradually converged into a single way of thinking.
To deepen her understanding of emerging technologies, Zoe has continued investing in professional development. She attended a Microsoft Networking & Training Event in Glasgow, participated in Microsoft Ignite online on two occasions, and completed a range of Microsoft learning programmes. These experiences broadened her understanding of digital innovation and reinforced her belief that technology can play a transformative role in education, healthcare, and community development.
Her curiosity about emerging technologies has also been shaped by entrepreneurs who challenge conventional thinking. Zoe draws inspiration from Elon Musk’s optimistic outlook, creative approach to innovation, and willingness to pursue ambitious ideas. She particularly enjoys exploring new AI tools such as Grok, believing they demonstrate how technology can become a powerful force for learning, creativity, and positive change.
As she reflects, she no longer sees “just a student or a patient”; she sees “a whole mind, body, and soul.” That multidisciplinary perspective enables her to design innovative, tech-driven educational tools that are scientifically grounded, creatively liberating, and deeply therapeutic.
Early Inspirations for Helping Others
The desire to help others often grows through lived relationships rather than distant ideals. For Zoe, meaningful connections with communities across the world transformed humanitarian work from a professional commitment into something deeply personal.
Her passion for helping others, she believes, comes from “an absolute love for human connection” and an unwavering belief that people are fundamentally connected. Every week, she has the privilege of building deeply personal relationships with more than 20 organisations across Afghanistan, Uganda, South Sudan, Kenya, Malawi, and India. These communities have become far more than professional contacts. She affectionately describes them as her “soul families.”
Listening to their stories, celebrating their victories, and standing alongside them every week strengthened her humanitarian purpose. Those relationships also inspired the team at Women’s Relief Aid to work alongside her in pursuing their vision of establishing a dedicated UK headquarters in Scotland, creating a stronger bridge between South Sudan and the United Kingdom.
To strengthen her contribution to education in humanitarian settings, Zoe has also been training with the Inter-agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE) since September last year. The programme has further deepened her understanding of inclusive, crisis-responsive education and reinforced her commitment to supporting vulnerable children and communities worldwide.
Her outlook has also been formed by the ambitious culture she witnessed in Dubai. She admires the city’s optimism, innovation, and pursuit of excellence, qualities she finds deeply motivating. That admiration has encouraged ongoing discussions about establishing a permanent base in Dubai, allowing Customised Colouring Global to partner directly with schools and hospitals while combining forward-thinking innovation with grassroots international relief to expand education, healing, and humanitarian support.
My passion for helping others is fueled by an absolute love for human connection and the unwavering belief that we are all fundamentally connected.
Biggest Personal and Professional Challenges
Some moments alter the direction of a career in ways no professional plan ever could. For Zoe, one deeply personal experience reformed both her priorities and the work she would dedicate herself to in the years that followed.
Her greatest personal challenge, and what she describes as her “most profound spiritual awakening,” began nearly a decade ago when her youngest son, Royce, sustained a mild brain injury during birth because of what the NHS later acknowledged as medical negligence.
Although the formal investigation resulted in important systemic retraining for the midwives and doctors involved to help protect future families, the impact of that experience continues to shape their daily lives. Rather than allowing the trauma to define their future, Zoe immersed herself in positive parenting, maternal mental health advocacy, and home education.
She became Royce’s home educator, dedicating herself to child-led learning, creative wellbeing, and understanding how hobbies, interests, and educational gaming could build confidence and independence. Through that journey, she discovered that growth could be “magical,” even though it often arrived through painful circumstances. Stepping far outside her comfort zone also transformed the way she viewed young people, leading her to treat every child as an equal, deserving of profound respect, dignity, and compassion.
Without a doubt, my greatest personal challenge, and my most profound spiritual awakening, came through motherhood.
How Success has Evolved
Success often changes as responsibilities grow. Early achievements create momentum, but with time, purpose begins to outweigh personal milestones. Zoe believes her own definition has shifted because her work gradually expanded from serving individual communities to influencing conversations on a much broader scale.
Early in her career, success was measured through tangible project milestones, compliance, and immediate outcomes. Over the years, that perspective has evolved into something much larger, centred on global influence, structural change, and lasting legacy.
Being featured on the cover of Passion Vista’s exclusive collector’s edition, Hall of Fame 2026, alongside only 30 distinguished global leaders, became a meaningful reflection of that journey. Rather than viewing it simply as personal recognition, she sees it as evidence of how far her mission has grown.
Today, success means using her platform, leadership, and purpose to shape the future of education, international relations, and creativity across borders. It also means building sustainable, technology-driven frameworks that allow communities to heal, learn, and prosper independently long after the initial support has ended.

UNESCO AI Programme and Future Vision
Artificial intelligence is often discussed through the lens of efficiency and automation. Zoe sees a different possibility. For her, technology becomes meaningful when it strengthens care, expands access, and supports people through some of life’s most vulnerable moments.
Completing the AI Transformation in Government course with UNESCO at Oxford University Saïd Business School significantly broadened her vision for what AI could achieve in education and healthcare. The experience encouraged her to combine immersive technology with psychosocial support in ways she had been exploring for years.
Drawing on her NHS training, particularly the course Maternal Mental Health: The Women’s Journey, alongside her lived experience with her son Royce and her own premature start in life, she is developing a bio-health application called ColourMeWell. The immersive colouring platform is designed to support women recovering from traumatic birth experiences while they are still in hospital, bringing together creative health, wellbeing, and quantum healing.
The programme also reinforced her ambition to contribute at a governance level. She hopes to apply this knowledge within her local council community before eventually working alongside the Scottish Government in international relations, advocating for greater international collaboration to create what she describes as “the world as peaceful and productive as possible.”
Reimagining Learning Through AI
Education has long asked students to adapt to established systems. Zoe believes technology has created an opportunity to reverse that relationship by allowing learning itself to adapt to the individual.
In her view, AI has the potential to become “the ultimate equalizer” for personalised, child-led education.
Traditional educational structures often expect children with different learning styles to fit into fixed models. Artificial intelligence, she believes, makes it possible to develop adaptive and immersive learning experiences that respond to each child’s interests, pace of learning, and emotional needs in real time.
Whether delivered through educational gaming or creative health applications, these technologies allow educators to celebrate children’s hobbies and strengths while building confidence, independence, and a learning environment grounded in equal respect.
Inspiration behind Customised Colouring Global
Years of working across education, healthcare, and child development gradually revealed a gap that traditional systems often overlooked. Zoe saw increasing evidence that creative expression could support emotional wellbeing in ways that deserved far greater attention, leading her to build an organisation around that belief.
This belief led to the creation of Customised Colouring Global, born from her realisation that creativity is “a powerful gateway to mental wellbeing, trauma recovery, and neurodiverse education.” The organisation is driven by what she describes as “a profound personal mission” to empower women and individuals everywhere to embrace their creative magic and share it with the world.
Its work combines neurological research surrounding colouring for PTSD, anxiety, and stress relief with accessible educational resources designed for everyday use. Through those initiatives, the organisation aims to unlock human potential, encourage mindfulness, and demonstrate that creative health is an essential, scientifically supported component of global education and healthcare.
Building Heroes Through Creativity
Some ideas begin with a single person yet grow into something capable of reaching thousands. The Hero Squad reflects one such journey, where a mother’s experience evolved into a wider educational mission.
Zoe describes The Hero Squad as “the ultimate love letter” to her son and to every child who learns differently.
The initiative draws directly from her years as a home educator, during which she witnessed how compassionate, personalised, and interest-led learning could transform confidence and independence. Those experiences shaped the programme’s foundation.
By combining educational gaming, creative health practices, and neurological research into music and mental health, The Hero Squad seeks to help young people discover their strengths rather than conform to traditional learning models.
Its global mission remains focused on nurturing independence, equal respect, and emotional wellbeing while encouraging children to pursue their passions and recognise that they are “the heroes of their own stories.”
A Seat at a Global Conversation – UN Women UK invitation
Recognition holds greater meaning when it creates opportunities for collaboration. For Zoe, an invitation to the UN Women UK Summer Party represented much more than attending a prestigious event.
She describes the invitation as a powerful alignment between her personal values and global action.
Her ongoing engagement with UNICEF, the United Nations, and UN Women UK has played an important role in shaping her understanding of advocacy and systemic change. Attending the UN Women UK Summer Party, therefore, became far more than a celebration of professional milestones.
She views it as an important collaborative space where conversations can influence meaningful action. It provides opportunities to align the work of Customised Colouring Global in educational technology and creative health with international frameworks focused on gender equality and human empowerment, helping ensure those initiatives create lasting global impact.
Balancing Ambition and Wellbeing
Building ambitious global initiatives requires energy, but sustaining that energy depends on what happens away from work. Zoe credits much of her balance to the relationships that remain constant behind the scenes.
She believes maintaining such momentum would be impossible without “my absolute rock, my soulmate, and my husband-to-be, Bryan.”
Together for 16 years, the couple continues to share what she describes as a genuine friendship filled with laughter. Bryan remains her strongest supporter, biggest cheerleader, and someone who is deeply invested in every part of her journey.
She also finds comfort in the companionship of her puppy, Faye, and her beloved Spidey Cat, describing them as an important source of grounding and therapy. Music has become another thread that binds the family together, providing joy and connection through every stage of life.
For Zoe, a home built on shared laughter, music, and the unconditional companionship of family creates the stability that allows everything else to flourish.

Long-term work demands more than ambition. It requires constant reminders that the effort is making a real difference. For Zoe, motivation comes from seeing lives change while knowing the mission continues to grow.

Even during difficult periods, recognition from within the industry reinforces that sense of purpose. Being nominated for the Women in Education Excellence Award by Fluxx Events became one of those affirming moments. Rather than viewing the nomination as a personal achievement alone, she sees it as validation that the work being done in child development and creative health is resonating with others who share the same commitment.
Knowing those efforts are being recognised by her peers keeps her focused on the work still ahead and strengthens her determination to continue innovating where education, creativity, and wellbeing intersect.

Royce’s Extraordinary Entrepreneurial Journey
Looking at the world through the eyes of my youngest son, Royce, who is such a bright, beautiful ball of fun and brilliant with numbers, is the very reason I am on this earth. I want to make all his dreams come true! At nearly 10 years old, he has completely chosen his own path. He recently completed his first official work experience day alongside his dad, Bryan, and his big brothers.
ROSIU’s Home Education Adventures
Inspired by the design tools I use, Royce began using Canva to create his own home education resources. He completely self-published the first edition of his very own comic book series, “ROSIU’s Home Education Adventures!” This incredible book features fluent Japanese writing, vocabulary, and cultural facts, as Royce is a passionate YouTuber who speaks fluent Japanese! He confidently stepped out of his comfort zone and sold his comic books at Glasgow’s iconic The Briggait Market and The Barras, and proudly donated a copy to our local library. His ultimate dream is to become a professional gamer, and he is paving his way with unstoppable confidence.
Local Community and Retail Success
In 2024, we created our very first AI colouring book using Canva and proudly donated a copy to our local library. A local shop began stocking all our books, and they have sold so exceptionally well that the owner now proudly stocks them in their second retail location as well!
The Scottish SPCA Partnership
I had the immense honour of creating the very first official colouring book for the Scottish SPCA! We hosted a spectacular launch event at the Cumbernauld Library and Museum with a phenomenal public turnout. Our wonderful friends, the musical duo Hunter & McMustard, played live music and helped run our raffle. We secured a gorgeous hamper of coloring products donated by the local business The Works for our colouring competition, making it a true community triumph.
The Glasgow Gaelic School Collaboration
We have collaborated beautifully with The Glasgow Gaelic School on two major events. This included a Careers Day where we officially launched our stunning book, “Magical Cats of The Enchanted Forest,” a project deeply inspired by our own local ancient woodlands and garden. As a family, we believe in fairies, nature spirits, the healing energy of the forest, forest bathing, and sword playing in the woods as part of an immersive, magical home education!
Government & NHS Backing for Colouring Hubs
Our innovative vision has caught the attention of high-level community leaders! We have received incredible interest and support from our local council and councillors, who absolutely love my proposal to establish interactive “Colouring Hubs” based inside each of the shops in our local shopping centre. Furthermore, our local NHS Health Improvement Team and their manager are completely aligned with our mission; they love the concept of Creative Wellbeing and Health and are actively looking to collaborate with and fund future clinical and community ideas with Customised Colouring Global.
